Swing-Flex® Check Valve with
Mechanical Indication
Swing-Flex®, the check valve
of choice, is now available with mechanical disc position indication
on sizes 3"-12". The indicator shows disc position and
is easily seen from a distance. The cover mounted indicator was
field tested in a raw sewage application and continues to operate
maintenance free over two years later. It can be provided with
the valve or ordered at a later date and installed in the field.
Both the valve and indicator are designed for minimal maintenance.
With no weights, levers, shafts or bearings, the Swing-Flex®
is designed to provide years of trouble free service.
The Swing-Flex® design provides
non-slam performance by placing the seat on a 45 degree angle.
The angled seat design results in a short disc stroke of 35 degrees,
which reduces the valve’s closing time and virtually eliminates
slamming. The elimination of weights and levers, used to shorten
the disc stroke in traditional check valves, means lower head
loss and less operating costs for the user.

New
Application Engineering Guide Available
Val-Matic
Corporation has developed an Application Engineering Guide for
its Tilted Disc Check Valve product line.
The
Tilted Disc Check Valve is a heavy-duty valve with excellent
head loss characteristics. The valve is ideally suited for raw
water, potable water and treated wastewater. The valve's tapered
metal seats are constructed of wear resistant alloys and provide
tight seating and long life even in the most severe applications.
The
valve is available with a bottom mounted dashpot to control
the last 10% of closure as well as a top mounted dashpot which
controls the full opening and closing of the disc stroke educing
the potential for surges on longer systems.
The
guide provides detailed information on applications such as
surge tanks, hydropneumatic tanks, and multiple pump installations.
Further, it provides selection criteria for bottom and top mounted
dashpots based on static head and pipeline length calculations.

Plug Valves with POP Shims
Val-Matic
Cam-Centric Plug valves are ensured of a tight shaft seal through
the use of Vee type packing and Packing Overload Protection
(POP) shims, a Val-Matic exclusive. The packing is adjustable
and replaceable and is protected by Grit Guard grit seals, which
keep line media away from the packing.
Pop
shims are mounted under the packing follower and take the guesswork
out of adjustment. The operator simply loosens the packing follower
and removes one shim at a time tightening the packing and assuring
a good seal.
The
Val-Matic Cam-Centric Plug Valve is an eccentric plug valve. Sizes
include 1/2" - 36" with either Flanged or Mechanical
Joint end connections. Features include a 99% nickel overlay welded
seat and permanently lubricated Type 316 stainless steel bearings.

Improved
Swing-Flex Standard Features
The
Val-Matic Swing-Flex® check valve is now provided standard
in ductile iron construction with cold working pressures up
250 psi making it ideal for systems where traditional 125 lb
valves were unsuitable and for those where surges may be a concern.
The
valve's short, 35 ° stroke, provides fast closing
to minimize slamming and slam related surges. Maintenance
is minimized due to the valve having only one moving part, the
valve disc. The valve and valve disc are accessible through
the top mounted domed access cover. Removal of the valve
from the line is not required for maintenance.
The
Swing-Flex® is available in sizes 2" - 36".
Options include a mechanical disc position indicator, signal switch,
backflow actuator and rubber lining.
